A Stunning Elopement in the Sun Juan Mountains of Colorado

One of my favorite places to elope in Colorado is the San Juan mountains. The varied topography, ruggedness and remoteness make this place unique and special for couples and their families. So when Chloe and Emerson reached out about wanting to elope there, I knew we were in for something fun. They are both avid outdoors people that wanted an intimate adventure on their own followed by more traditional elements with their families.

We went over different location options before deciding on a lake overlooking the Grenadier mountains where they would be spending their honeymoon climbing. We set out hiking under the stars with just our headlamps before reaching a secluded alpine lake where they shared a first look at the sunrise.

The mountains lit up perfectly for their first look before heading over to their ceremony spot where they shared some private vows with each other. They picnicked and shared the first dance before hiking back down to meet their families!

Their families greeted them with banners and champagne as they walked down their makeshift aisle. We took some family photos and then took a break before meeting up at Ouray brewery for their reception.

This was such a low-key and stress-free way to get married, while still having plenty of adventure and traditional elements in their day. The pictures do an amazing job of telling about their epic adventure in Colorado!
