About the happy couple: Sophia Bush & Grant Hughes

Actor and producer Sophia Bush met entrepreneur and real estate investor Grant Hughes on a New Year’s trip to Nicaragua almost 10 years ago. They only saw each other a few times a year because of their busy schedules, but at the start of the pandemic, the two began sharing books, articles, and philanthropic initiatives. That segued into long FaceTime sessions and, eventually, dating. The couple got engaged in August of 2021 on Lake Como in Italy.

The couple tied the knot on June 11, 2022, at the Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa, Oklahoma. “Tulsa is a place where so much progressive justice work is happening, so much deep history has been uncovered and is at long last being honored, and so many people are building a deeply inspiring future,” Sophia says. “When thinking about the purpose of our wedding, we wanted our community that pours into us to pour into a community at large that we love and that deserves all our attention.”

About Sophia’s Wedding Day Looks

Sophia got married in three specially made gowns. The ceremony dress was an off-the-shoulder gown with long puff sleeves and an orange, peach, and green floral pattern with bees taken from California, Oklahoma, and Italy to honor the heritage of their families in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

“On this day, I wanted to represent us. Where we come from. Where we are going. Oklahoma tea roses for my husband and his family. Italian olives and branches for mine, and for what their offering signifies. California poppies for our home together. And our sweet, chunky bees, that we have cultivated together for years now,” Bush said. 

The theme for the night was elevated cowboy. Her second dress was a Roksanda Ilincic gown, a strapless ivory column gown with a detachable train lined in floral brocade, including a cape to the ensemble. 

Finally, she swapped her floor-length gowns for a mini dress inspired by a disco ball, by Cristina Ottaviano, for the after-party at Leon Russell’s Church Studio.
