It’s the best time of the year, the air is crisp, the leaves are changing and Bridal Fashion Week is happening in the city that never sleeps! New York Bridal Fashion Week is a week-long parade of the newest bridal fashion from all your favorite designers. The dresses and accessories that are shown will be hitting your local dress boutiques come Fall of 2023 and available for brides to order! You may get to see these gorgeous dresses even sooner if the designer you love is having a trunk show at one of your local boutiques this winter…so keep your eyes peeled for who’s coming and when!

New York Bridal Fashion Week proved to be pretty spectacular for the upcoming season. There was romance, drama, a nod to the 90s, and some twists to the classics! We’re covering all of the major trends we saw in New York and showing you some of our favorites!

Glamorous Gloves

Cathedral-length gloves in all different fabrics were a recurring theme throughout so many designer’s shows. We love that you can change the look of your wedding dress with a glove. Keep it classic with a cathedral-length satin glove or go bold with some color! We also love the lace and beaded gloves that come in fingerless or a full glove. Wear the gloves for your ceremony and then remove them for the party and as easy as that you have two fabulous looks for your wedding day!

Detachable Skirts

We are loving the trend of a detachable skirt! Another option is to switch up your look from ceremony to reception without purchasing an additional dress. Make an entrance down the aisle with the drama of a full skirt and then switch it up to a more chic, fitted look for the reception! There are so many different styles of dresses to choose from when it comes to detachable skirts. Looking for a glam beaded option, Ines Di Santo debuted a stunning beaded option. Kelly Faetanini has a beautiful more classic option and Amsale‘s cute short dress and detachable skirt is so chic!

Elaborate Beading and Lavish Fabrics

Fall of 2023 is bringing elevated glam with elaborate beading and lavish fabrics. For the bride wanting a formal wedding, this trend is for you. In terms of beaded gowns there are layers of different kinds of beading, art deco beaded patterns and beading over lace like this dress from Dana Harel. Lavish fabrics were a highlight of the Anne Barge collection. We especially love this gold brocade dress from the line. Lavish fabrics bring an elegance and uniqueness to the dress without having beading. Beading or lavish fabrics, we think this trend is lovely!

Visible Corsets

Corseted bodices are a standard in many wedding gowns, however for Fall of 2023 many designers decided to show off the corset. A corset bodice helps frame your upper body, giving your chest and waist the ultimate shape. We love the different ways designers played with this trend, from corseted bodices that are sheer and show some skin, to corseting that is stitched on the outside of the dress and corseting that is topstitched to show it off. The corset is updated and fresh for 2023. We think this look can be the ultimate romantic look, it can also add a little edge to your wedding day look.

A Statement Bow

The trend of a statement bow is much like wearing a veil, it’s something that you’ll fall in love with or you won’t like it at all. We think this trend is worth trying on though and we’re loving all the different options of this trend for Fall 2023. The statement bow can be big or small, sit at the waistline, on the shoulder, or back. A statement bow can be elegant, it can be fun, and even a little funky. This trend is for the bride who wants to be a little bold and add an element of surprise to her dress. So many designers snuck a statement bow into their collection this season and here are some of the favorites from NYBFM Fall 2023.

Tiered Tulle

A trend that is for the bold, fashion-forward bride who wants the ultimate regal look on their wedding day. From multiple full layers of tulle or just one single wide tulle ruffle, this trend is so much fun! Many times this trend is paired with a dropped waist bodice silhouette to accentuate your figure and then add volume at the bottom. You’ll for sure make a dramatic entrance with this bridal trend!

The After Party

Big weddings are back for 2023 and the trend of a little shortie dress or pantsuit option for the reception is here in a big way! We saw so many great options for the the after-party at NYBFW 2023. You can’t go wrong from feathers, beading, lace, fringe, or simple silhouettes. Don’t be afraid to completely change up your look for the reception. Wearing a classic dress for your ceremony? Have some fun and get a little funky with feathers like this dress from Untamed Petals for the after-party! A short dress not your style for the dance party? Feel sexy and comfortable getting crazy on that dance floor in an amazing jumpsuit like this one from Daalarna!

Dramatic Veils

A trend that goes with any style of dresses, suits, jumpsuits, and shortie dresses. The dramatic veil showed up in a big way for Fall of 2023! Many designers designed veils that go with a specific dress, using the same lace or fabric to incorporate into the veil. Cathedral-length veils were absolutely the trend, bringing some major drama for that walk down the aisle.

Remember many of these trends won’t be hitting your local boutiques for a while. So check with the boutiques that carry the designers you’re interested in looking at to see when their Fall 2023 trunks shows will be making their way to you!

Also remember that most boutiques are recommending shopping and purchasing your dress 9 to 12 months before you wedding due to the production time to make your dress and including time for alterations!
