The Wedding
“We initially fell in love with Telluride during the Bluegrass Festival and returned many times to enjoy the outdoors there. While deciding on a wedding venue, we realized we wanted to share this incredible place with our friends and family and decided Telluride would be the perfect place to tie the knot. We were incredibly fortunate to have beautiful weather, in addition to the changing leaves to complement our beautiful day. The weekend was focused on getting to spend as much time with our loved ones that traveled from all different areas of the country to celebrate with us. As a kickoff to our wedding weekend, we went mountain biking at the Telluride Ski Resort. We didn’t break anything, but we did almost give our wedding planner a heart attack. We then took a group hike along Bear Creek trail, which provided spectacular views of the town of Telluride as the aspens changed. Our decision was to do a first look and adventure photo session up at Bridal Veil Falls. Even though we weren’t sure that our car would make it up the mountain, we managed, just barely. We hiked up to the falls in full wedding attire, and our photographer captured some unbelievable photos. At 10,000 ft in elevation we rode the gondola up to the San Sophia Overlook and exchanged our vows in front of all our loved ones. We capped off our weekend with our reception at Tomboy Tavern. On the patio of Tomboy Tavern, guests arrived for a cocktail hour and were greeted by a champagne wall made by Cash that served as a seating chart. ‘I Believe in a Thing Called Love’ performed by the Branches was our first dance song. Our wedding had unique details like a whiskey bar that guests could enjoy. Additionally, an old rotary phone was available for guests to leave voicemails and well wishes which would be stored on a record and that we could enjoy for years. Our guests’ dance moves were top-notch, and we had the best dance party of all time. We didn’t want the party or the weekend to end.”
